Burn permits have been issued throughout Angel Fire this summer and the lack of notification and precautions associated with the process is of great concern.

Why are burn permits being issued during summer months when the forests in Angel Fire and the thousand of acres surrounding it are diseased and ready to explode into a fire that would devastate lives, personal property, and the businesses that underlie the local economy? What can be done to insure that proper and extensive care is taken in the issuance and monitoring of such permits? I do not believe that there can ever be enough precautions taken to off set the risks.
